Lingerie Football League

The Lingerie Football League is a League of American Football characterized by the fact that the female players, in addition to shoes, a helmet (similar to those used for ice hockey) and protectors for shoulders, elbows and knees, are wearing only panties and bras . In 2004, with only two teams, the tournament was cut to one game (the first Lingerie Bowl). In 2005 the teams have gone from two to four and the name Lingerie Football League was born. The two teams winning the semi-final are clashing in the Lingerie Bowl.

Rules
In the Lingerie Bowl tackle football is played. The rules had gone through some changes.
• The field is 50 yards between end zone. The areas of touchdown are 8 yards. The width is 30 yards.
• Teams play 7 vs 7.
• The game consists of two times 17 minutes each with 15 minutes half time. In case of a tie after the two regular periods, an extra time of 8 minutes is added with the rule of sudden death (golden goal).
• Aside from the kickoff (kickoff of the first and second time), there are no actions where the ball is kicked (punt, field goal, extra point kick).
• After a touchdown, you can opt for extra action point from the 3 yards, which, if successful, yields a point, or 5 yards, which, if successful, gives. There is no possibility to get an extra point with a kick.
• The defense should be at 5 yards from line of scrimmage (the line passing through the point where you placed the ball to start the action).

The 2009-2010 season has ten teams divided into two groups, the Western Conference, which includes Dallas Desire, Dream Denver, Los Angeles Temptation, San Diego Seduction and Seattle Mist, and the Eastern Conference, which includes Chicago Bliss, Miami Caliente, New Majesty York, Philadelphia Passion and Tampa Breeze.
The tournament opened on 4 September 2009 with the game between the Chicago Bliss and the Miami Caliente, which ended with the score 29-19 for Bliss.
The championship continued until 29 January 2010. The top two teams in each pool (Chicago Bliss, Miami Caliente, Dallas Desire, and Los Angeles Temptation) will go to the semifinals which will be played in Miami on February 5. The two winners will take part in Lingerie Bowl on February 7.

Criticism
When the first Lingerie Bowl was announced, immediately a lot of controversy was born over the event, accused of being offensive to women, especially female athletes. The activist Ann Simonton of Media Watch Group, has launched a campaign to boycott the car of the group that, through one of its brands, decided to sponsor the game.
Following these controversies automotive sponsors who at first had come forward have withdrawn. An online game that manages online gambling took over as sponsors.
Other people called the event a parody of the sport, claiming that the players are not professional athletes and even amateurs.
The Chicago Force team IWFL, a women's professional football league in 2004 defined the lingerie football "an affront to women's sport" and advanced a formal challenge to the Chicago Passion (the name originally planned for the Chicago Bliss) to play against them.
Brigid Mullen, a player of IWFL is of the opposite opinion, saying she was interested in playing in a LFL team.
The 2009-2010 season showed a sharp rise in the athletic and technical rate. Formations include now some of the IWFL player. The Miami Caliente have hired two players of the Miami Fury, the quarterback and wide receiver Anonka Dixon and Tina Caccavale. The co-owner of Fury, Gayle Harrington, said to have partially changed the initial negative opinion: "LFL is more athletic and a bit more serious than imagined at the beginning". The quarterback of the Los Angeles Temptation Joey Davenport was on the roster of the California Quake.
